Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications

B eijing University of Posts & Telecommunications (BUPT),one of the state key universities, is the earliest to pursue research in information technology in China . Its goal is to build itself into a research-oriented university with its educational and research programs focusing on the technology, application and management of information. In 2004, BUPT was engaged in 358 research projects, completed 131 projects, and realized earnings of 60.3 million yuan (RMB) from the transform of scientific fruits, while 2,021 academic papers and 100 monographs or transform were published.

Currently, BUPT consists of 14 schools and one graduate school, with one state key laboratory and many key laboratories at the provincial, ministerial or municipal level included. In 2004, BUPT has an enrollment of 17,170 students.

BUPT possesses a strong force in many areas of scientific research, such as optical communication & optoelectronics, wireless & mobile communication, computer science &technology, the technology, service, application &management of the new generation of information networks, intelligence information &pattern recognition, electromagnetic compatibility , intelligence mechanics & remote sensing technology, information security & management, electronic commerce and multimedia technology.

Today, the wave of information is sweeping across the whole globe and the cause of information & communication in China is just in the ascendant. In the 21 st century full of promise, the human society will be an informational one with more attraction and more challenge. BUPT will accept the change from the new century with and attitude of diligence, strictness, realistic approach & originality and strive to build itself into multidisciplinary university taking the lead domestically and enjoying high prestige internationally in the field of information.
